2017 Life On The Farmette

Image
Time to reflect on this year's adventures on the farmette here in Mayer. Lots of photos!   This is our soon to be screen house for our garden. It will be organic and preditor free.     Next step after painting the floor base Buddy is putting together one of four sides. The floor base has given him a nice level area to work on.   This is Buddy putting together the third wall on the floor base of the greenhouse. Using the sides of the first two walls. Genius!     Third wall painted and attached! Starting to look like a Greenhouse. Door is next.   Two thumbs up!     Greenhouse door is finished and hung!  The strusses put together and up.   Our Farmette Screen House for Container Gardening.   Our backyard garden arbor/fence is finished! Used the redwood posts from James and Veronica's wedding.  Now due to the Goodwin fire the sky is not beautiful. Hope all is still here in a week. LOL!   Our lit...

Goodwin Fire 2017

Image
The wildfire did burn some of our Mining Claim. The Game and Fish Officers escorted Buddy and Lana into the claim to retrieve some expensive tools after all evacuations were lifted. It will be some time before they can get back to Prospecting out on the claim. Will post again when that happens! Two Old Farts Mining For Gold

Image
Yes Buddy(my husband) and I are in our Sixties and we are able to still get outdoors and dig in the dirt for GOLD! Hi Folks! It has been awhile, but we are working our claim here in Arizona now that the weather is a little less hot! Enjoy this video I(Cindy) took. Gold Mining is hard work but we manage to find some humor in it along the way. We dug out 3 foot cubes of dirt off the bedrock each day during our camping weeks in October out at the Claim. I put in a couple of hours each day just like I do when I garden at home. Buddy did the rest! LOL This is part #1 of a few videos in sequence.  This is part #6 showing our take from the dig over a period of two weeks. Watch for the full story soon. We need to work on putting the videos into one video. Thanks for visiting! Buddy and Cindy

Tee Shirt Weather Prospecting in January

Image
Would you believe we are having very sunny weather here in Az. in January! This is our First Camping Trip this year out at the New Claim. We spent four days camping and prospecting, my wife and I. We had a surprise visit from our Daughter, Brandy and her Finance, Dewayne, and their children, Warren, Zoey and Alexis!   We loved it that they came out to enjoy some time with each other around the campfire! Gold Mining is not as easy as it used to be. You have to dig down to Bedrock. We found some Bedrock partly exposed  in the creek. We shoveled off the over burden of dirt and rocks and dug into the cracks of the bedrock. We found 1 half of a gram, total weight of gold pieces. Enjoy the photos!  I still use the Original Gold Bug Detector!  My wife is always ready to give me coffee or hand me a tool!  Digging back two to three  foot of soil and rocks!  The creek bed in background showing our dig holes during our four day stay!...

Buddy's Dream

Image
Finally back to work out on the claim! We have a New Gold Claim here now called, " BUDDY'S DREAM". We let the other claim go. We are still in the Bradshaw Mountain Range. There are three partners to this mining claim, therefore we have 60 acres.  The monsoons have started and we are checking out parts of the creek I have wanted to check for years!  You see I have been waiting to claim this area for 15 years and it finally became available! Enjoy the  photos. If you want bigger gold you gotta move boulders! So here is how the story unfolds!  We dug down to bedrock the first week down creek from the boulder.  Then Buddy uses his Handmade Vac.  This is Cindy, my Wife. Yes she helps!  The large boulder on the top right in  is the one I moved in the video and found the larger pieces of gold. Watch the video! One of our partners. Lana, was out at the claim the second week of this dig. She gave me all the encouragement she coul...
